Not too long ago I did a post with my bed in it and all I could think was I need a new bedspread, a new look. Finding a spread that is big enough to really cover a Queen is a task, especially if your cheap. I like many of the new comforters but there is that something special about the older chenille or those heavy patterns, (sorry I don't know what that is called). Last weekend I came across a beauty!
She is perfect! Even long enough to go over the pillows! Spotless and pristine she was tucked in a corner of a garage sale filled with rusty junk that first caught my eye. I bought an amazing piece of rusty gold which I will show you later but....here I was carrying this rust bucket and a beautiful white spread, trying not to get it dirty! Sounds exactly like my style and personality, the contrast of flaking dirty patina next to crisp winter white.
oh Look at those pom poms! rah rah rah!
Can you believe she was only $10. A definite bargain!
Along with some new throw pillows that were around $1 a piece and I was half way to the makeover.
Enter 6 yards of sheer fabric at the next sale for only $3. (ok so I bargained, they wanted $5 and it was worth it but hey, I am cheap)
I have long dreamed of the flowing canopy above me, whisking me away to peaceful sleep. Plus it looks cool. This Romantic Country layout shows that graceful flow of sheer fabric that invites anyone for a nap! I had it all coming together except how to hang it!
I searched the house for left over junk, what could I use that wasn't already being used somewhere, what could I tear apart? It just so happened I have also been trying to think of a pot rack idea so I had this planter in the house. Not working for a pot rack, I decided to give it a try for the canopy. The pot rack....you will see soon- think tool tray!
A quick coat of paint, and a ceiling mount.
Fabric woven through, also hiding the 70's throw back plant hanger. A few stick pins to help bunch fabric in all the right places.
And a few more stick pins....
A new bed, a makeover for $16.00.
Just a little bit of garage sale and curbside fun.
In this room, both the dresser and end table were curbside freebies.
Most of the bedding, pillows, shams garage sale finds aprox $15
Sheer fabric, lamps, doilies, basket, mirrors, blue chair all sale finds. approx $25
Curtains...sale find $5
Quilts and quilt ladder, hand made.
Told you I was cheap!
