Tool Tray Pot Rack

For years I have wanted a pot rack. I had a great piece picked out but it was too heavy for the ceiling and my husband hated it. I love the look of ladders but we are fairly limited on space and have low ceilings. One thing I have is plenty of tool trays.

I decided to give it a try, and outside of the need to get rid of the chicken border....I like it.

This particular tool tray has made it's way around the house, it was the first I ever bought and sparked my love of them.

It will rest here for now. It does however, make me think I NEED a copper pot.

Vintage Bedspread and Copy Cat Canopy

Not too long ago I did a post with my bed in it and all I could think was I need a new bedspread, a new look. Finding a spread that is big enough to really cover a Queen is a task, especially if your cheap. I like many of the new comforters but there is that something special about the older chenille or those heavy patterns, (sorry I don't know what that is called). Last weekend I came across a beauty!
She is perfect! Even long enough to go over the pillows! Spotless and pristine she was tucked in a corner of a garage sale filled with rusty junk that first caught my eye.  I bought an amazing piece of rusty gold which I will show you later but....here I was carrying this rust bucket and a beautiful white spread, trying not to get it dirty! Sounds exactly like my style and personality, the contrast of flaking dirty patina next to crisp winter white.
oh Look at those pom poms! rah rah rah!
Can you believe she was only $10. A definite bargain!
Along with some new throw pillows that were around $1 a piece and I was half way to the makeover.
Enter 6 yards of sheer fabric at the next sale for only $3. (ok so I bargained, they wanted $5 and it was worth it but hey, I am cheap)
I have long dreamed of the flowing canopy above me, whisking me away to peaceful sleep. Plus it looks cool.  This Romantic Country layout shows that graceful flow of sheer fabric that invites anyone for a nap! I had it all coming together except how to hang it!
I searched the house for left over junk, what could I use that wasn't already being used somewhere, what could I tear apart? It just so happened I have also been trying to think of a pot rack idea so I had this planter in the house. Not working for a pot rack, I decided to give it a try for the canopy. The pot rack....you will see soon- think tool tray!
A quick coat of paint, and a ceiling mount.

Fabric woven through, also hiding the 70's throw back plant hanger.  A few stick pins to help bunch fabric in all the right places.
And a few more stick pins....
 A new bed, a makeover for $16.00.

Just a little bit of garage sale and curbside fun.
In this room, both the dresser and end table were curbside freebies.
Most of the bedding, pillows, shams garage sale finds aprox $15
Sheer fabric, lamps, doilies, basket, mirrors, blue chair all sale finds. approx $25
Curtains...sale find $5
Quilts and quilt ladder, hand made.
Told you I was cheap!

Cowboy Style Tour Part 2

Welcome back to the ranch! The cowboy side. Last time we looked more at the cowgirl side but the down stairs room shows a little more.....  leathery love!

Knotty pine and rich colors welcome anyone to the room.

What cowboy wouldn't be comfortable spending the day here?

Beautiful wood tones on trunks and this majestic armoir.

 This cowboy loves to hunt!

And this is sweet Bo, a master hunter, retired now. Just napping on the ranch, dreaming......like we all do, of days gone by.

so I will leave you with a little cowboy advice,

Real cowboys never run, they just ride away.

Cowboys are like outhouses…All the good ones are taken!!

It is not enough for a man to learn how to ride; he must learn how to fall.

and,

Always drink upstream from the herd.

Cowgirl Up! Tour of Shannan's Ranch part 1

Just outside of West Fargo is a cute little ranch home, filled with horses, dogs and cowgirls.
I am going to give you a two part tour of my friend Shannan's home.

Shannan's style is a country vintage. Clean and crisp with just enough rustic to make her cowboy feel at home. You will see more of the cowboy touch in part 2.

One of my favorite touches is the barn door wainscoting, complete with hinges.

 The lovely family!

Here you can see the apron wall, complete with a hand copy family recipe for The Mr.'s favorite stuffing recipe.

Vintage touches of enamelware in the kitchen and a way cute measuring spoon display.

Cowboy how to's are a must!

My friend Renee and I spent the afternoon with Shan, (side note, I am Shannon, my friend Renee is in the black and Shannan Renae is our hostess, too funny!)

We were also treated to a great lunch as we talked about upcoming weddings. Each of us had a daughter that will be married in the next year and the first wedding for each of us!

Miss Underwood I Presume

Isn't she a beauty!
She was sitting there, at a garage sale....waiting.

It was a little later in the day, I was surprised to see her. Look at that smile. How could I resist?
She is resting on the desk now, my desk.

I think she is just beautiful. Can you guess what I paid for her?

While you are visiting check out my May Day giveaway.
and I paid.....
$15.00 yep that is all. She works perfectly, even rings her little bell. Her ribbon is quite tattered but hey.
