                                                       Built in bookshelf

When we moved in to our mobile home, there was a lot more retro than I cared for. The one thing that bothered me for years was a wall build in shelf unit. It originally had glass doors with gold etching. It had a poor veneer finish that was quite dark. First I scraped off the gold. After another year or two I tried fabric coverings behind the glass but I was never satisfied. It had a good amount of storage but it just wasn't pleasing to look at. After a couple more years I finally got the nerve to have my husband tear off the doors and I painted it.
It blends more with the room now, I used a dark Terra cotta color on the back, called Timberline, and a neutral tan, both colors are also used in the living room where the book case is located.

You have been busy! Love the bookcase. The paint made a huge difference! The spoon idea is cute too! Nice to "meet" you!

Thank you so much for coming over to say "HI".
It was a very nice surprise. I love your bog posts, especially this one. I look at it again and again and think "There's a good idea. I could do something like that." My husband and I downsized to an apartment last summer. I am still trying to fit in and make things look good. Your photos are so helpful.

Your home is so pretty. Now I am assuming you live in a mobile home because I used to and I notice characteristics of one. I too decorated mine and you would have never known it was a Mobile Home. Even the yard I had was done tastefully. My point is that you don't have to live in a mansion or cottage to have the look and feel. You have done an amazing job. Absolutely beautiful!
