Painted Wood Boarder

  The chickens had to go........
I had tried a tin boarder like in the kitchen and it didn't work here, that of course left stickies on my chickens, confirming .....they had to go. I couldn't tear them down because it was ripping the paper underneath and I just did not want to redo the whole room!
My only idea was a wood boarder large enough to cover the entire area. Note photo below, we also had a hole where an alarm was previously, creating a wonderful bonus hole to deal with.

After the wood was screwed into place, I painted.....
and then embellished with copper cookie cutters.

Metal hinges and gate handles= hole gone! Don't peek beneath!

My Farm Fresh sign reattached and a new look!

Collections- Luggage, True Blue Shelf

My collection of vintage luggage has taken over nearly every room. I decided I have to consolidate it to only a couple rooms. I have loved the stuffed dresser look, replacing the drawers with the suitcases but was unable to find the right dresser. I found this great bookshelf at an estate sale. Complete with dust cobwebs and garbage pail kid stickers, I needed to give it a good cleaning.

It was going in one of the white rooms, my bedroom has a blue chair that has just the right pop, having that burst of color made me want to paint the shelf, I kept with the blue, for now- I can always repaint!

Tip from Donna @ Conghaile Cottage  Place doilies or place mats under suitcases to keep from sticking over time to paint!! I read her tip and went to check, after only 1 day....slight sticking was already occurring!

Most of this luggage had ended up here in the living room. I had liked the display but the room had become too crowded and needed some bigger pieces moved around so this display had to go.

They have made the rounds in the house, and I feel as though I should stop buying them now!! I just hate to leave one at a sale if it has a good price! With a total of 14 and limited space, I must stop! I have paid less than $35 for all of them! I see one for that price at most vintage resale stores. Do you have any collections that are getting out of hand?

The newest piece......maybe the last????

Camera, Scales, and Chair O MY, vintage junk or scores?

Look Sharp! As if I don't collect enough, camera's of old have always caught my eye. I just haven't found the ones I like or the price I like until now. I came across a case that I was not familiar with, I half expected it to be binoculars or something different. I was quite elated when .....

this came out of the case.

Just the style I love! It fits perfectly with my decor. Now I will tell you I know nothing about it, not even it's time period. I am an odd collector perhaps, I have little knowledge of what I tend toward, I only know I like it when I see it. And...I am cheap, so I figure that puts me at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to valuables. This had a tag of 7.50 sold!

Because who in their right mind would buy this?? I mean it is charming but talk about a rust bucket! I saw it at the flea market with only 5 bucks on it, I walked away, came back, walked away.....
thinking that really is junk.
but, it would go great along side my other scale
it is only 5 dollars
I don't need it
walking away with total control and affirmation- I traveled all of 10 feet
then I returned to the table and handed the man a 5 and said if I don't get it I will regret it.
He looks at me and says I will lower it to 4.
LOL! He had already sold it to me at 5, that is my kind of junk man!

See, works just fine right there!

Back in June we came across this chair at a sale, beautiful soft finish, the wood really feels like silk! At only 20 dollars we knew it was a great deal, the workmanship is outstanding.

You can see the previous gold leafing and design that was there, I imagine it just wore off with time. I have tried to look it up and came across one just like it with full gold in tact, but I cannot find any info as to how to date it. The site is still up and running and looks to be a flourishing high end furniture store, but I cannot find this chair or any other information on it.
I would love your help on any of these items if you know much about them.

I got overwhelmed and am just not able to get a party up and going at this time.

Amusing Vintage Finds- DeWitts Medicines and More

Out rummaging around, I came across one of those sales, 3 in the same vicinity, nothing of interest! Sales are slowing down here, too hot. Hoping for that last boost before winter settles in and garage sales disappear for 6 months. I stood at one dark little garage, thinking there was nothing I would find for the weekend, I was listening to a lady buying everything as she ooohed and awed over....junk.
Sorry but ...junk. wow She had pile going of things I would toss out without a second glance, but in the middle of the area she was collecting from were these! Totally off her interest radar...was MY JUNK!

3 DeWitts Nasal Drops, all full, with droppers and instructions and 1 DeWitts Vapor- Inhalant, either evaporated or inhaled.
Amazing beauties. I have never seen them, I guess because they are before my time but I was instantly attracted to them, especially with a tag of 50 cents per bottle, all in original boxes!

A weekend ago I came across this shoe form for a quarter, quickly snapped it up and in the car saw.....

this... which freaked me out. After some research I found out this is NOT Hitler's swastika. The swastika known for such evil goes the other way, this one is known to have origins way back in history.  whew.

This other little nail kit, not in great shape and missing one original piece was a spur of the moment pick, not sure I love it. For now it sits on my dresser but if I ever open an Etsy, it will probably end up there.

For now I will be quite happy with my medical finds, displayed in the bathroom. Here's to hoping for a few more good finds before the season ends.
