The Shed That Junk Built

The New Shed!!

It had to be done, and it had to be done cheap! Our old shed was falling apart, the floor was giving way and it was so crowded you could barely move. Years of squirrels building their nests had made small holes all over the base and let's face it, it had seen better days.

Below is the old shed, shown as we were tearing it down. Makes me laugh in unbelief how small it was. It was a normal size shed but since my husband made our new one 3 feet taller, it's hard to imagine how we managed to fit what we had inside.
We used the same roof, just mounted on top of a new frame. Now.....this thing, with shingles stripped, weighed hundreds of pounds. Don't be fooled by the photo, this was a resting period, 6 guys (and several brace boards) sweat bullets and strained muscles getting this thing up on top of the frame!  My great thanks to them all!

The new frame, same dimensions as the old but 3 feet taller.

where the old shed was

Lofts inside on both sides increased storage space greatly!!
We also turned it on its side and place two regular wood doors, this created an easier way to load and unload things like the mower.

Painting was next, along with the house.

Most of the items were bought at Resale Habitat for Humanity, Craig's list, and a few pieces were given to us or curbside.
As for the junk....yeah I had some laying around.....

so I decorated the shed and made a junk garden where the old one stood.

I love the sunny yellow and gray trim, sorry we were in a drought and the grass and flowers were all but dead.  We did get rain, lots of rain, on the day of my first ever booth sale.
   More on that later!

The Fall Post 2013- The easy way.

Here it is....just Fall around the house.
The Mantel

I received the lovely pitchers from a friend, you won't believe all the goodies she gave me! I will be posting that soon.
I really have gotten to the point where I don't want to drag out and put away a lot of things for holidays. I like my junk right were it is so I use small items and just mix in a burst of color. A few pumpkins and less than a box of Fall leaves and smalls have turned what used to be a full day of decorating into an hour, and much less storage!

A couple sunflowers and one fake pumpkin transforms this area into a colorful display, with zero effort!
