Junk Trees

What to do with a growing collection of junk pieces, broken frames and wood slats.
Make a junk style wall tree!
Various pieces of frame and wood I had laying around were screwed together, you can even see a light socket in the mix.

The toppers for the trees are just drawer pulls, the other decorations are small tart tins and flat beads and are glued on with E6000.

You could also use rulers, silverware, table legs....be creative!
a simple craft project to use up left overs, make one for you and one for a gift.
I usually don't decorate until at least a day or two  before Thanksgiving, sometimes after, I thought this year I might try a little earlier after being so inspired with flea markets, blogs and Pinterest. We shall see if that happens or not.

Do you decorate early? late? Have you already started? Are you offended by the seeming passing over of Thanksgiving?
I have yet to do a thing but make my junk trees and buy a new pencil tree. It seems the more crowded my home gets with my junk obsession, the smaller my tree gets! I used to have a large tree, then a medium and now the skinniest one I could find.
Starting up a vendor business  took over my house and storage, making things worse ugh! Time for a purge and a storage unit!

Daffadowndilly's @ The Festive Flea

Today I am taking you on a tour of my favorite booth that was just down the flea block from mine.  As you may know I have just entered the flea scene...and will have some upcoming booth photos of my own to show you along with some of the things I have learned so far.
One thing I learned is when I grow up in vendorville....I want to be like ! Cammie and her husband were the nicest people to chat with and wow...do they know how to junk!

Absolutely drool worthy junk! Cammie really knows how to display it too, and she works hard at getting the right presentation. Is it any wonder their booth won first place?

A Rusty chippy base with touches of vintage memorabilia, and even a splash of elegance make Daffadowndilly's booth like a mini vacation back to a simpler time. I felt as though the store bell should ring as I entered, like long ago down town street shopping.

I am betting you have seen many items in this booth you would love to have yourself. Check out on , Blogspot or stop into their shop in Coleridge NE.

Upcycled Cribs

Don't throw out that crib!! Or if you do, chuck it in my yard!
We acquired two cribs and a pew bench (just the seat) and since I am a stalker I knew how many great things could be done with these pieces. The simplest repurpose is to paint or white wash the sides for great magazine, towel, or decorative racks.

We had two different bases, one more old style metal and the newer version which is more wood type. For the wood, it had natural dividers so it made sense to leave it as it and paint the "frames" one color and fill in the spaces with chalk board paint. A fantastic giant days of the week chalk board!

We all love the metal pieces to use as a bulletin or showcase board! This piece stayed with me!

For the sides, we decided to make benches. The tall back piece is from the newer style crib and the front legs and decorative brackets came from the older model. My husband then cut the pew seat to size and reinforced it all with oak brackets underneath.

We sold everything in our booth (stay tuned for my first booth post). We had 3 shows fairly close together to initiate us into the vendor world, I have a lot to share with you on how they went and what we have learned so far. Follow closer with the vendor side on or
