Saved from the dumpster!
I thought I would do a quick post to show you a few roadside rescues that were painted and sold. I love flipping a piece but keeping from the dumpster when it has so much life left in it, is really a treat!
a plain brown outdated, and possibly home made dresser got an updo of black chalkboard drawers and clock accents. I decided to go boy, I see many cute colorful dressers out there for girls but not so many subdued ruff and tumble colors.
I could hardly believe someone threw this table out, sorry no before pic, it was plain wood finish. Sturdy and in great shape all it needed was a bit of paint. I used a latex Valspar on the bottom and a high gloss black on the top. I noticed despite cleaning, the black wanted to crackle, after redoing it once, I gave up and let the piece win. It was actually a nice rustic crackle finish that wasn't consistent over the top but looked like it belonged- sometimes the piece knows what it wants and it is best not to fight it. And...it sold quickly!!
Sorry for the poor photo on the before, bad lighting due to those dumb twisty bulbs! I fell over when I saw this piece! Gorgeous, glass in tact, door off and in need of minimal repair, feet removed but tucked inside along with the key! The only thing missing? Shelves. NO problem. I figured they may have been glass and had broken, I made a template out of paper to get the curves, my husband cut them out of 1/4 board and she was ready for a coat (or 5) of paint! Turned out lovely and the second the booth opened she was gone! Many asked to buy her until she was loaded and on her way to her new home.
My husband and I live near some apts and this past week we have scored 3 tables, a 3 tier shelf and a super large frame. Even though it was -40 windchill! Never too cold to junk!
blessings and thanks for visiting
