Multiple Design Personality Disorder -Katie's House

I want to share with you a charming and beautiful local home.
Katie of The White House Boutique has been gracious enough to allow us to tour her historic family home that she calls eclectically decorated. I call it FABULOUS BABY!!!!
Look at these lovely wooden floors, and could you just die for that amazing coffee table? The craftsmanship of the arched doors is a rare find nowadays. She lives on my favorite street, nestled in the old part of town, with mature trees that create a canopy of welcome and coziness.

Katie-
" The house we live in used to belong to my husbands Grandma!  So his mom was raised in this house!  They were the 2nd owners of this house!  This house was built by a wealthy banker who didn't spare a dime when coming to the quality materials used back then!  The house was built in 1927 on what is now the historic 8th Street of Fargo.  The character and charm of this house speaks for itself. "

"The outside is the original shakes which gives it it's wonderful character!  My husband and I are very fortunate to live in this neighborhood and in such a charmer of a house!  Most of the wallpaper is kept from when his Grandma and Grandpa lived here {which I LOVE}  we have only remodeled  a couple of rooms.  It reminds me of a little red riding hood cottage, it's perfect because the part of me that wants to be in the country has a house that is country brought to town!"

Sweet breakfast nook and a well lit cozy sun room where the family practically lives during the Summer months.

" I would have to say that I don't really decorate in one particular style.  It is very eclectic and bright.  I have always liked to be different and it shows in my decor.  I am lucky that my husband knew what he was getting into before he married me because we have rotating furniture and some would say crazy taste! Multiple design personality disorder....Okay this might not be a real diagnoses....but if it was I definitely have it. My sister and I suffer from it. Some may say its a good thing, but we would consider it a curse."

Katie has a self confessed obsession with mirrors!- I see no problem with that myself!

" I love shabby chic, industrial, bohemian, country, rustic, modern, you name it and I like something about it. So it is hard to pin point one style and to stick with it. We were both complaining to our mother about this multiple design personality disorder and mom put us in our place....she said it just perfectly..... "Girls, just surround yourself with things you love and it will be beautiful." Wow mom, you are one smart cookie.  So that is what I did, and continue to this day!  If I like it and it carries a story I add it to my surroundings! "
the back yard ready for movie night

"That wonderful site called Pinterest is such an amazing  tool to help rid any mental blockage one has when it comes to decorating!  I always tell myself to go back to my pins and see what it is about each pin that I like and I try to go off of those to create an atmosphere that is not too crazy, has personality, and something that has a touch of cozy!"

So I want to leave you with this....
surround yourself with things you love and it will be beautiful...what ever it is!"-Katie

Love this home! I think I have a bit of that same disorder. lol! If you ask me, one style is boring. The more the mixture the more interesting. Katie has got some great pieces and this house, what a treasure! Thanks for taking us on this wonderful tour at SYC. I will be featuring you this week.
hugs,
Jann

Oh my gosh Shannon, I think I am losing it! lol! I was in ironing some pants to wear and it came to me that I did not add you to the features. Totally forgot! I am so sorry! I have not done this before. If it's o.k. I will feature you next week. No one will remember that it was from the week before. Again, my apologies!
hugs,
Jann
