Heart of the Home

Welcome to my kitchen...,
a tour courtesy of Sheila's Heart of the Home Party!

We live in a mobile home so I don't have one of those magnificent updated kitchens, I really want to redo our floor and counter top! One day perhaps!

This hutch is kind of the center..now decorated for fall. It was a garage sale find for $40, I refinished it and just love all the extra space it created.

a "peek" inside the hutch

A few pieces of enamel ware remind me of kitchens past... simpler times perhaps? or at least more of a time when the kitchen really was the heart of the home...long before take out, fast food and box mixes. How many pots of coffee were perking away in that pot? How many non box chocolate cakes stirred in this bowl? I love the feel of enamel and I use most every piece I have regularly.

These pieces hang on an antique fish stringer.

Cook books!!! I love them...and cooking magazines.  This little shelf holds many of them but not all. It also still has a shelf devoted to home school materials...our last year this year.

Gadgets and gizmos.....

I love my Ikea racks and wish I had room for more....all around my kitchen

     pantry.....don't peek in there.....too messy!

Did someone say coffee? A staple in the kitchen.

My dining room/kitchen are the main part of our home, so I kind of think of them as the same room. I love to entertain and although we don't have a lot of room these little spaces have hosted up to 25 people at a time! Cozy to say the least.

Copper cookie cutters, silver trays and old jars....love!

The fireplace near by for cozy dinners.

For great recipes please stop by North Dakota Kitchen to see what's cookin in the kitchen!

Thanks for visiting my kitchen. Stop by Notesongs for more kitchen tours.
I am also joining Marty's Tabletop Tues

blessings and thanks for visiting

I love your kitchen. Love the cabinet. What a great bargain.

I enjoyed your kitchen too. Very cozy and warm looking. (Did the furnace get fixed?)

I love your pumpkins and gourds. I don't celebrate Halloween, but love autumn decorating. To look at, I mean. I only change wall hangings with the seasons. If I get around to it.

I liked your reflection of a time when dinner didn't come out of a box or through a drive-in window. Your home seems warm and inviting.

Shannon, You have the warmest kitchen. Love all the country decor. I can remember my Great Grandmother having some of the same things, and I can't tell how much I loved going to her house. Not to mention the wonderful food that came from that kitchen. I bet everyone LOVES coming to your house for those little get togethers, I know I would feel very comfortable and at home.

Your kitchen is so cozy! What a beautiful hutch and such a bargain price! I also share your love of enamel ware, I have a great collection of it! It reminds me of my childhood, my grandmother used the big ones for dishpans, and I used them for swimming pools for my Barbies! :)

Have a lovely weekend!

Shannon, I cannot believe you said you live in a mobile home -- it is HUGE and GORGEOUS! I have a VERY small house. Tiny. So I appreciate seeing others who have a nice big home! :) You did a great job on decorating and, may I say, that looking around your home (in your photos!) I have seen many a thing that I would LOVE to have! You have so many cute things! Well, even though I was Sheila's last entry in her 'Home of the Heart' party, I am enjoying seeing all of her entries, even though I am LATE! :) Thanks for sharing.
Best regards,
Gloria

I didn't make it to the party in time, but I am still trying to go through as many entries as I can! I really liked your kitchen and all the wonderful touches. It's warm and inviting. All your fall touches are great. We never stop collecting all those gadget and gizmos do we? I really like how your yellow rocking chair brings everything together.

Found you at Funky Junk Interiors. Your kitchen is amazing and inspirational! I live in a mobile home as well so I am always feeling so limited but seeing yours helps me feel like there is hope for mine. Thanks so much for sharing-beautiful!

Great job on decorating your home. I love that you shared your house is a mobile home and their is some restrictions on what you can do, but woooow....it looks fantastic. It's easy to decorate with a brand new house with lots of walls and new counter tops, not so when you have limitations in your housing. Your kitchen shows off your creativity for design. Thanks for sharing. Decgal

I need to find a place to stack my silver platters. Just have them in a closet.
