I really never would have thought having his own room would have meant so much to my husband until his room was done...and whenever I want to find him......guess where he is?

vintage ammo...well old stuff, sounds cooler if you call it vintage |
This past summer I found a great trunk for just a dollar! It now serves as a sofa table and stores paintball materials inside. The tool tray atop becomes a magazine rack...no that woman is not a dirty magazine, for some reason that publication seems to think a chic holding a gun does something to sell issues I guess.
All reproduction metal signs came from Hobby Lobby, what is funny is all the other junk like oil cans, the tool tray and trunk, lantern etc is from my collection. Now...it seems as though it is acceptable to collect such material. silly boy
But....this is the true gem of my hubby's man cave, he turned the closet into a reloading station. I must say it makes me very happy because his previous reloading station was my kitchen. He used to sit at the breakfast nook and reload, ejecting primers on my floor and getting gun powder residue all over. Yeah....I hear ya.
so hooray for the new room!!!
If you read the previous posts on my girly room- The Uber Shabby Room you remember I spoke of the futon we purchased from Craigs list...this is it. Perfect for the room and exactly what we wanted, it was a bargain at $80....especially considering the trundle bed was thrown it!
Hey that stud of a man in that photo sporting the sweet sweatsuit and oversized sunglasses, that is my man 23 years ago. We had been married a little over a year and were expecting our first child, he caught this whopper of a paddlefish in the Williston Basin area. It was 68 pounds and full of caviar. For years he would go to the photo books and dig this one out to show anyone that would sit still long enough to hear the story. I finally decided to take it out and frame it for him, to this day he has never gone to the photo book to get any other picture...nope, not one of the kids or one of me..silly boy, but that is ok, this Monday the 16th (2012) we will be celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary and I guess I will keep him another 24 years God willing, especially since he wont be lacing the family dinner with gun powder any longer.
A little while later.....
Growing in items and mess.....His comfort zone.
I tossed in my vintage WWI ammo box, yep mine.
I thought I would share his modified Nagant. He removed the original stock, now on the wall -(see above photo of reloading station), replaced it with an ATI Monti Carlo stock, fabbed a new bolt and put on an over the receiver scope mount.
I still think it was prettier the other way.
Continued prep for the zombie apocalypse,
or target practice.
blessings and thanks for visiting

Shannon,
That is really sweet that you shared your mans man cave. He's a special guy and I bet he appreciates his space!
Hey there Shannon!
Well done.
I like this Man cave too. I like all the *old look* signs matched with all the junk you've collected..and ammo boxes, trunks, tool carriers... it all has a true man feel! It must say something about you and your hubby--that you can create a room with him in mind AND THAT HE ACTUALLY SPENDS TIME IN IT!
I like the reloading tables in the closet too.
You did a great job.
I think the best part is...you've got room for people (the kiddos) to sleep when they come home from school!
OR WHO EVER!
great dual purpose rooms.
Pat
Men all need caves. It's there happy place.

Shannon,
Looks great!!
If I gave my hubby a room of his own , I would have to go with Black also and then add gold and a touch of red for Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins!! LOL!!
He has a corner in the bedroom that is his Pittsburgh Shrine! But that is all he is getting!! LOL!!
Hugs,
Deb
I'm not surprised that your guy loves his Man Cave. It must be great for you to lavish some of your decorating skill and interest to benefit HIM, and Him alone!
It's great that he has a personal reloading station, too. Awesome!
Not a bad looking man cave. Luckily mine has his at his business. I love all the vintage touches.
I know my hubs would LOVE this room. He lies to work on his vintage car stuff in the house. In fact..he has been know to clean smaller car parts in my dishwasher! I know...gasp...but ya gotta love em!
I found your blog via Funky Junk, and while I loved your room (I pinned the photo of the basket of doilies), I had to tell you how much I enjoy your DH's man cave. My father, who passed away 7½ years ago, did his own reloading also, and seeing the reloading station your DH put together made me smile. Dad had his in the basement, which was really an old cellar, then when he and Mom split up, he had it in his living room. Thanks for sparking some memories!
Great man cave.
