Refinished, Repurposed, and a Hack Job

Less than 3 weeks away from my first one day booth sale!! I have been keeping very busy turning trash to treasure, so to speak. I sure hope the booth goes well! It will really be a learning experience to see what sells and what generates interest.

I have been painting, waxing, sanding....
      spay painting, stenciling, gluing....
making a general mess. My house hasn't been clean all Summer!!!

Even bike tires are not safe!!!

Of course a few pieces have played switcharoo and ended up in my house rather than for the sale.  Not that this piece is tremendously interesting....but it has a ton of room. The top opens to a deep storage, and then the large drawer on the bottom.  It replaced the pressed wood shoe holder and drawer set we had by the door. *shudder

I really like this piece but since I found the 1954 Lane cedar chest below curbside.....I decided to swap them out.
This piece will be for sale

this piece is staying

We also found a "new" table someone tossed at an apartment building. My daughter spotted it and stood guard until I could get there. It wasn't a special table....but since it is just my husband and I at home now it had a great feature that benefited us. It was smaller, perfect for 4, with a hidden leaf that expanded to 6, the size of our previous table.
Our other table had  many years of use, still in good condition but not real desirable, I decided to hack it in pieces.
Ok, not so dramatic as that, we made two wall mount tables out of it that will go in my booth!
However if I had an ounce of room that yellow one would stay with me too!!!

So I am keeping busy, busy, busy. I always have paint on my fingers, elbows, toes and hair. I dress like a total bum, forget to put make up on, and can not move in certain places in my house due to overcrowding of projects!!
Praying for a good sale! Lots more to show and tell so come back soon!!

ps...in case you missed it. One of my creations made Country Living's website!! See it HERE

Hey Y'all Just wanted to let you know how excited I am that my saw horse upcycle got featured on Country Living's web page!!

Here is the before,

and the after!  A couple coats of paint, some distressing and yard sticks glued to the top, sealed with acrylic poly urethane.
I truly love it.

Country Living Magazine commented on and then chose it to feature on their Flea Market Haul article!!

Thanks so much !!

Repurposing Drawers...and a Chicken Feeder

Still plugging away on getting ready for my first booth in Sept. I have been working on a few drawers, I love that even though a piece has reached the end, a small bit can still be used.  I immediately was drawn to this drawer with the sewing spindles inside...

This piece was old...the kind of old that had the rippled thin bottom, I think a few coats of paint will actually help it stay together! I love the way it turned out with the bright green and black so I did a few more pieces to match it.

We used an old drawer for my daughter's wedding to hold programs.

Mounting on the wall,  placing on legs or just sitting around like shelves, old drawers are a great design element. I have been working on some with decoupaged paper lining the inside and have one more to finish. The booth has taken over my spare room and spilled into the dining room.
and get this.....even though it is taking over, my husband texted a Craig's list junk curb alert to me today!  I did not get there in time but I have to laugh....maybe, just maybe he is catching the junk bug???

Some of my personal projects are getting done too. Like this wonderful chicken feeder that is now a coffee holder.
I have painted a couple large pieces, made a junk garden and my husband has painted our house and a new shed a sunny yellow with  gray trim to come so I will have lots of upcoming posts.

For now you can follow the junk transformations on the facebook page . I would love to have you like and follow along!!

North Dakota Lolita

If you had told me a few months ago I would ever have a mannequin in my house, I would have told you...NO way!
I had been noticing on blogs the lovely dress form ladies and how desirable they were to others, I always thought, if I ever come across one I will have a big decision whether or not I get it.

I did not find a fancy dress form, but I did find a manne, just sitting at a garage sale.

Now, had I not been getting ready for my first booth, I probably wouldn't have looked twice, but, I thought..."that could be an interesting piece, for sale or display"
So...I bought her. She (Lolita) had her name in glitter on her hiney, and a glitter flower on her chest.
I scraped them off and set to work decoupaging her with old music and book paper.

Adding some flowers from wall paper samples, along with a necklace and crocheted neck piece, she is mighty spiffy now.

In fact, I rather like her, and I am not sure I want to sell her.
Question
if you are a booth owner of any type, what would you sell her for?
